Circumstances where you do not need to apply for a new EIN. There are some changes in your business that do not require a new EIN , including a change of location, addition of locations, a business name change or a corporate merger in which the surviving Corporation takes on the existing EIN. This includes your bank, creditors, local business authorities, vendors, and customers.


You should also notify the IRS about your change. Although your LLC will keep its federal EIN , you have to amend the name on your tax return or otherwise notify them with a written letter. You will not be required to obtain a new EIN for a corporate name or location change.
