The Swiss C permit is the equivalent of Swiss permanent residency, allowing a non-Swiss citizen to work and live in Switzerland without any restrictions. The permit C holder does not need an authorization to change employment or to work as an independent. Additionally, the C permit does not restrict employment to a specific canton (art. LEI).
The Swiss Permanent Residence Permit ( Permit C ) is only one of the residence permits that Switzerland offers. You cannot apply for permanent residence upon your first entry in Switzerland.
You must first fulfill a few conditions. Who can get a Switzerland Permanent Residence Permit ? Nationals from the US and Canada must stay. A good number of B and C permit holders will from January 1st need to get certificates of language competency from a government-accredited institution to evidence their language skills in one of the Swiss national languages.
